On page 1, panel 1, a billboard for NOW Comics, with the slogan "BETTER NOW THAN NEVER", is seen among the ruins of Cocoa Beach. NOW Comics is the publisher of this issue. As far as I've been able to find, the slogan "BETTER NOW THAN NEVER" was never used by the company.

Also in panel 1 of page 1 is a sign among the rubble reading "22 Acacia Ave." There is no Acacia Avenue in Cocoa Beach, but "22 Acacia Avenue" is the name of a 1982 song by heavy metal band Iron Maiden.

On page 1, panel 2, the store next to the parking structure where the Horse Soldiers have their base appears to be a Toys R Us.

On page 2, panel 1, the shoulder strap and rifle carried by Commander Leahy is missing, though he wears it throughout the rest of the scene, before and after.

On page 4, Major Adams relates that four years ago, John Connor and his elite commando unit successfully took down the LBJ Space Command Center in Houston, knocking out half of Skynet's defensive grid satellites. This refers to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, NASA's primary establishment for spaceflight training, research, and flight control, named for former U.S. president, Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973). NASA, of course, is the United States' official space agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

On page 5, Major Adams says that Skynet has named its war shuttle the Viking. On page 23, we even see that a profile face of a Viking has been painted on the side of the cockpit! Why would Skynet bother?

In panel 4 of page 5, a couple of unusual-looking Terminators are seen guarding and working on the Viking shuttle.

On page 11, panel 5, it looks as if Major Adams may have a patch of the flag of the Confederate States of America on the left shoulder of his shirt.

On page 12, Major Adams suggests a plan to use C-4 plastic explosives to destroy the Viking on the launch pad. C-4 is a real world plastic explosive used by many militaries around the world. 

On various pages throughout this issue, Resistance members are seen wearing baseball caps of assorted Major League Baseball teams. On page 13, Slager wears one with the "NY" logo of the New York Mets; on page 14, Daniels is wearing a Boston Red Sox cap and Leahy a Houston Astros one (Leahy is also seen wearing it previously on page 13, but the H is missing from the star logo there); on page 16, Jameson is wearing a cap of the Oakland A's (in one of the panels, the "apostrophe-s" is missing!); an unnamed soldier is wearing a Cincinnati Reds cap; Essie wears a Texas Rangers cap. With all these baseball caps appearing (Tucker wears an LA Dodgers cap as well in this issue and last), artist Thomas Tenney must be a baseball fan!

A rather bizarre Hunter-Killer on treads appears on page 14. It looks like a cross between a tank and a Dalek! Or maybe an evil R2-D2?

By page 18, Essie has apparently lost her cap in the battle!

After Dorian kisses Gow on page 22, Essie refers to him as "Romeo". This is, of course, a reference to the character of Romeo in Shakespeare's romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet.

On page 22, the combined Sarah's Slammers/Horse Soldiers unit launches a new assault on the Viking on its launchpad at the Kennedy Space Center. The John F. Kennedy Space Center is NASA's Launch Operations Center, north-northwest of Cape Canaveral, named for former U.S. president John F. Kennedy (1917-1963).

On page 24, Major Adams refers to his people as "owlhoots" as he urges them on in the attack. "Owlhoot" is a term that was used in the American old west for a cowboy outlaw.

On page 25, K.C. uses the weapons of the Slammers' captured HK to destroy the Viking as it launches. But, it was established in "Cocoa Beach" Part 1 that Gow did not have time to get the weapons working when he rewired the HK to be flown by humans. I guess he found the time while the Slammers were ensconced in the Horse Soldiers base.
